Not much, the location was it's only redeeming feature!
The hotel is shabby and there is an odour of blocked toilets and stale tobacco. Could do with a modernisation and clean up. Ask for bar snacks on arrival to be told that the food stopped at 15.00. Though the sign outside says all day! Later decided not to eat in the hotel because of cleanliness issues. Cheers
I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were very obliging and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was really great with friendly staff, big portions, and plenty of top ups of tea & coffee. Although the hotel is quite dated, it still has a lovely charm. And its in the heart of the city, perfect for a shopping break! I will definitely be staying there again
Very courteous staff, good atmosphere in hotel
Hotel was fine, however, they had no record of my booking when I checked in eventhough I had my confirmation slip in hand with confirmation number... They were shocked by this and made every effort to accomodate my group of 6 people.... Not all my group were able to stay in hotel as it was full
The best thing about my stay was the breakfast , it was great to see fish on the menu , I didnt get it but my boyfriend did and was delighted with it. The service at breakfast was excellent and staff were very friendly all through our stay even though we were only there one night
The room was very basic and and parts of the hotel could do with a bit of decorating , but overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel
staff were nice it was close too all amenities
room was freezing movod to another was not much better stayed one night only checked out next day
Only good thing i can say is that we got a wii in the room to play
Cleaniness, very old facilities and very old building. Not my cup of tea.
friendly staff very helpful nothing was to much trouble close to city centre enjoyed my stay gretly
Just a ten minute walk from the heart of the city. The staff and the breakfast were very good.. Now a warning to travellers in Ireland. Read the terms and conditions very very very carefully before hiring a Budget rent a car, be prepared for extras, check the car carefully before taking possession and dip the fuel tank. We have never encountered a car hire firm like them, take heed.
I liked the old charm and character of the hotel, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was very tasty.
I found the downstairs toilet to be smelly, like the smell of stale urine. I also did not like the smell of disinfectant in the bedroom, it seemed to be coming from the en- suite. We did not like the mattress cover as the underside was plastic and got too hot during the night.
Great welcome from friendly staff and good food
Location is very good. Otherwise, there is little, if anything, to recommend it.
Our room (No. 1) was appaling. It looked like a makeshift attic conversion. Lighting was so poor that we needed the light on during the day. The wooden-framed, single-glazed window was very dangerous as the cill was very low down and the frame was partly rotten and without any safety devices. A young child could easlily have fallen from the 3rd-story window. The bathroom was at least 30 years old and way below the minimum standards we would have expected in even the most basic accommodation.
Stayed here with the family. We had side by side rooms but adjoining door, which would have been nice. Convenient location and a nice breakfast, Private parking behind the hotel.
Wish there would have been a elevator as our rooms were up several floors.
Located in downtown Kilkenny and convenient to shopping/pubs/etc.
Parking was a little difficult until you actually checked in and were given a map to the parking lot entrance behind the building. The hallways and stairs inside the hotel were rather like a labyrinth. Some of the breakfast was not fresh.
Charming staff Excellent breakfasts Immediately gave us an ironing board and iron in our room Suitcases carried up and down + stored as we left late afternoon.
unique hotel , friendly staff , food excellent excellent central location . car park was excellent
A little dated . No lift to upstairs rooms and lots of walking up and down steps. Could get a little noisy at times at nights
